Post Ranch Elopement of Diana and Bryant

Diana and Bryant eloped at the Post Ranch Hotel in Big Sur this week! Their six-hour elopement was so beautiful and unique. They envisioned lots of wild forest locations and steep cliffs with a pit stop for some snacks and macaroons at a beachside picnic. I had so much fun showing them my favorite stops and being part of their day. Thank you so much for choosing me to capture such an important day!

A little bit about Diana and Bryant in their own words

We met during our anesthesiology residency. Bryant was two years ahead of me and was my senior resident for several years before we started dating.

  • When did you know he/she was THE one?
  • For both of us, it was when we traveled together in Europe in the spring of 2018. I had a two-month-long rotation in Sicily during residency and at the end of it, Bryant met me in Europe and we traveled together in Amsterdam and Germany for ten or so days before heading home. The time apart over those two months made us realize how much time we had been spending together and how badly we missed that time when we were apart. And traveling together somewhere neither of us had been before really allowed us to lean on one another during times of uncertainty, find joy in little moments together, & understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. We both liked that trip really solidified the relationship and made us both more certain that we were compatible adventure buddies for life :)

  • Why did you decide to elope?
  • We went through several iterations of wedding planning before deciding to finally elope. Initially, we had planned for a small, 30-person destination wedding in Amsterdam (we love it there and it was one of the first big vacations we ever took together). Then COVID-19 happened and we were unsure whether travel would still be an option and/or if our families would feel comfortable traveling to Europe for the wedding. Our second plan was to have our smaller wedding in Las Vegas (where Bryant is originally from). We went so far as to put down payments on a venue, photographer, hair and makeup, etc. but eventually, we found ourselves getting so caught up in the details of the event itself and having it be nice for our guests rather than on our own experience of the wedding day. Eventually, we both decided an elopement would help take away some of the uncertainty of planning a wedding during a pandemic and also allow up to have a more personal, unique experience that was more focused on just the two of us!

  • Why did you choose Big Sur, have you been here before?
  • We have never been to Big Sur before! We wanted to go somewhere really beautiful and picturesque because having beautiful pictures to remember the day was really important to us. We landed on Big Sur because we had been wanting to see the Redwoods on the West Coast for a while. We also wanted our wedding week to be somewhere where we could pair being outside in nature with some more upscale dinners (we love exploring new restaurants) and luxurious lodging to celebrate our wedding – Big Sur & the California coast seemed like a really good way to mix those two vibes. There’s something about eloping somewhere we’ve never been and exploring something new together that we think is really symbolic of marriage.
