Big Sur Redwood Elopement
Aaron and Courtney eloped this week in the redwoods of Big Sur California, followed by their first dance cliffside and popping champagne with the mountains as their backdrop. I worked with Courtney and Aaron to make sure their day felt authentic and exactly as they imagined. They are both huge Harry Potter fans and I loved how they made a ring box out of their favorite chapter in the book! Will Wild Flowers made the most spectacular bouquet, Courtney attached something blue as her ribbon and included her grandmother’s rings on her boot ties as something old. Courtney had one of the best bouquet tosses I’ve seen, throwing it behind her back to Aaron right after they popped champagne on the cliffs. The moon showed up as we hiked out and we ended the night listening to Mystikal and dancing our butts off. Thank you both so much for including me on such a beautiful day full of intention, love, and laughter, it was such an honor to be there.
A little bit about Courtney and Aaron in their own words:
Where did you two meet?
We met on tinder about 8 years ago! We talked on & off here & there until about 2015 when we met up for our first date!
How did he/she propose? Who introduced you?
Aaron proposed on October 23! I was studying all day for an exam & Aaron surprised me with a fall home picnic that included pumpkin carving! I love Halloween it’s my favorite time of year! We always have a little competition when pumpkin carving so I was getting a little upset that my pumpkin broke (haha!) and when we showed each other our pumpkins, Aaron had carved “always” into it with a lightning bolt! (Harry Potter is my all-time favorite and it’s something we love to watch together). It was a very special moment. I was in total shock & could not have been happier. Needless to say, he definitely won that pumpkin carving contest!!
When did you know he/she was THE one?
Courtney: I knew Aaron was the one when he was the only one who really understand me. He is very patient & kind & just knows what to say at any given time. I knew he was the one when we first told each other that we loved each other on our six-month anniversary in Big Sur. Aaron: pretty early on Courtney is very kind always smiling and even if she is having a bad day she always is checking to make sure everyone else is okay. We never argue or fight we have always just clicked and understood each other very well from the beginning. We enjoy the same things and after seven years I still enjoy every second we are together and get bored when she’s not around. She is everything I could have hoped for in a partner for life.
Why did you decide to elope?
We decided to elope because we want to do something special & go back to the place that has so many fond memories for us. Getting married is about celebrating each other which is exactly what we want to do!
What does your partner do that makes you laugh?
Courtney: Aaron is such a goofball at heart. He is always making me laugh when it comes to his sarcastic remarks or dancing around like a goofball in the house Aaron: pretty much everything Courtney is very goofy and is always saying and doing ridiculous things that make me laugh.
What are you looking forward to the most about being married?
Courtney: I am looking forward to just sharing this life with my best friend & all the adventures it has to offer Aaron: being able to share this life with my best friend forever.
Why did you choose Big Sur, have you been before?
We chose Big Sur because Aaron had been there prior to us going together and he loved it. It was the place we shared our love for one another and shares a special place in our hearts.
